Now Serving Bandera County Youth

As the old song says, children are our future and we’ve taken these lyrics to heart by expanding our services in order to promote a healthier future for Bandera County’s kids. Aspiring to serve a wider range of individuals, we are proud to now provide healthcare services for area youth between the ages of 12 and 18. In the past, the Clinic has had to turn away patients under the age of 19. Thanks to the staff, volunteers, and generous donors, we are now able to provide primary care to children and youth in this age range, if their families qualify. The Clinic is unable to treat children already covered by CHIP or Medicaid.

Texas has the highest rate of uninsured people in the nation and children are no exception. Taking this sad fact to heart, our Healthcare Coordinator Susan Broa quickly began working to fill the need. “I thought it would be a good opportunity for our Clinic to provide care for kids who lack any kind of insurance coverage. They can get vaccines at the health department for free or minimal cost,” said Susan. “But the Nagel Clinic can provide a more complete health assessment for these children.” In her role, Susan works closely with each of the Clinic’s medical providers and seeks to bring innovation, compassion, and heart to the daily task of making the community a healthier place for all.
