Continued funding supports preventive care, screenings, and behavioral health services for rural women
The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic (ANCC) has been awarded a second consecutive $50,000 grant from the Kate Marmion Charitable Foundation to continue supporting its Well-Woman Program, which provides vital healthcare services to uninsured and underinsured women in Bandera County and neighboring rural communities.
The $50,000 grant is designated for the Well-Woman Program to strengthen access to women’s healthcare services and reduce gaps in rural specialty care.
Expanding Access to Essential Women’s Healthcare
The Well-Woman Program, led by local gynecologist Dr. Sandra Haldeman, provides preventive screenings, diagnostic testing, health education, and treatment for women who might otherwise go without care. The program focuses on closing healthcare gaps in rural areas where specialty women’s services are often difficult to access.
“We, at the Arthur Nagel Clinic, are so grateful to have this grant. It helps support the needed women’s care services our clinic provides,” said Dr. Sandra Haldeman.
Strengthening Rural Health Outcomes
Clinic leaders say the continued funding reflects the program’s positive impact in the community by helping women receive earlier screenings, identify health concerns sooner, and stay connected to ongoing care.
“We are deeply grateful to the Kate Marmion Charitable Foundation for their continued investment in the health of women in our community,” said Sandra Imery, Executive Director of the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic. “Receiving this grant for a second year demonstrates the strength and impact of the Well-Woman Program. We are seeing real, positive changes in women’s health through earlier detection, increased preventive care, and improved access for patients who face transportation and financial challenges. This funding helps ensure women in our community can receive quality care close to home.”

Community Support Keeps Care Close to Home
Foundation support helps expand services, but community giving helps sustain them.
